Not many shoes got on my feet during my first official training cycle as a newbie runner. I preferred the flat rail bed 10 minutes from my house ( That competing Run Clubs also loved to roam ). The 1080V13 was a do it all shoe for me as I casually picked up my average 10 minute miles into the lower 9's during my workouts. This shoe was spongy and responsive every step. With the 14 coming out soon, time will tell if I'll like the newer upper better. For now, this is a Tier 1 trainer.
If you could believe Cameron introduced me to this color way and Shoe line. Novablast 4 is the shoe I ran my first HM in during the Ocean city NJ HM just two weeks ago. The giant stack and the consistent feeling throughout the race had me wanting to log more miles after the race. A strong competitor for trainer of the year in our group as all three of us log consistent mileage in the shoe (Not cameron's 411 Miles in his first pair).
I consider this to be the new back staple to the running trainers being put out by Hoka every year. I feel like I've worn 4 pairs of the Clifton's before I became a runner and now understand the longevity this has and has shown over its almost decade of being a daily trainer. I wasn't wearing the Clifton 1, but am wearing the ninth version at least once a week.

Im with Ashley her as I really didn't run in many trainers during my first full training cycle. Diadora was one of the first brands I looked at and grew to like. Being a trail shoe, I ran on just about any surface with these shoes, the traction control was the best part of the shoe. shoe was also on my feet for my first HM.
Less cushioning than the Diadora shoe, but more responsiveness throughout the entire run. felt my legs were relevant the entire run and felt engaged throughout. Enough cushioning that I could also kick back in the Altra' sand have a relaxing run.
I haver never worn a carbon plated shoes before these. Cameron talked about his Nike Alpha Fly's like they were his children (I think he believes they are). The rolling sensation during my run and the springy feel throughout had me excited to put these back on. Running my first HM I wanted what I knew worked on my feet, which is why I wore my daily trainer Diadora, but will be lacing my Plated shoes for my upcoming 10k before Christmas.
There are two sides to this super race shoe people probably know. The Alpha Fly 3 is a spring under your feet that propel you forward. And Nike has finally moved away from the second model of this beast of a shoe. Previously the second model had basically two pieces to the shoe that moved you forward as you ran, but that felt clunky and uncomfortable if you weren't basically in immaculate racing form. This shoe is all one unit under the foot and propels and softens the blow your legs take in rac
Put 340 miles in my first pair of 1080's and they did not disappoint. Spongey, but responsive. I felt like I could run some fast miles through these. Reliable to also get all my long runs done, which I think I only used another shoe once for my LR during my HM training. Clocked a 5:24 mile around the Wallkill Track in the 1080's and felt no hot spots or rubbing. Glad I was picked these up again.
The Novablast 4 felt like a everything shoe right when I bought them after the Winter Grit Party in Baltimore hosted by Believe in the Run. That run I wore a 10 but fit better in a 10.5 since I got several small blisters on my toes. I usually don't go off of colors, but the Neon Green was a nice touch. The Paris Edition made it even sleeker looking. I guess I was supposed to review the shoe, but honestly could put the shoe on everyday and would have no issues. I also mashed 411 miles in my first
